I’ve been meaning to start a “homemade beauty” series for quite some time now. Mainly because of your curiosity and frequent questions about the way I take care of my skin, about the cosmetics I use and so on. Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that I just love everything that’s natural: masks, food and sports. To the extent that I would change the saying “You are what you eat” into “You are what you eat and what you use” 🙂 That’s why I’ll reveal my proven methods for taking care of my skin in the new section. You’ll find here my tricks, recipes for homemade peelings, or cosmetics I use – get ready for a substantial number of fruits and vegetables! 😀 I’ll also try to choose recipes from the category “simple, effective and not that expensive” and I hope to get some tips and advice from you. I’ll be more than happy to test them!
It’s good to start a day with taking a seat and taking a deep breath. Take time to drink a cup of coffee and remember that these 10 minutes of morning relaxation is your investment into your wellbeing for the whole day!
Let’s start with my everyday classic – a coffee peeling. It should be prepared in the evening, right before you go to sleep (if, just like me, you have mixed or oily skin), or at the weekend – when you’re relaxing at home and don’t have to put your make-up on. It’s good to take a break from make-up for 1 or 2 days. Remember that after having a peeling, you should properly hydrate your face, for example by putting a cream on it (I recommend Nivea for babies 😉 ). The coffee peeling that I suggest you do is mild and doesn’t irritate the skin on your face, and it greases it fantastically!
Firstly, drink a cup of morning coffee, take a deep breath and remember, that these 10 minutes of morning relaxation is your investment in being ZEN during the whole day. 10 minutes without a phone and rush – you’re not gonna save the world during these 10 minutes, but you may put yourself in a good mood and prepare for the never-ending fight with everyday reality! Ready? 🙂
WHAT DO YOU NEED? NOT MUCH, REALLY!
- 1 heaped tablespoon of coffee grounds from a boiled coffee, they can also come from a coffee maker
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil (it can also be any other oil you’ll find at home)
- ½ teaspoon of honey
- a sieve for draining the coffee grounds ((if, like me, you make coffee in a Turkish or Greek way)
Mix all the ingredients, then put the peeling on your face, which you need to wash beforehand. Massage it for 2 minutes and wash it all off using water with soap. Then moisturise your face with an appropriate cream. You’re now beautiful, scented and glowing, just like peaches 😉
