Ever since Ava Gardner’s era, red lipstick is a beauty must have in every woman’s collection. Today Emma Stone, Olivia Palermo and Taylor Swift can’t live without it. Its darker, burgundy editions were rocking the fall winter catwalks, Marca Jacobs‘, for example, and raspberry – among others at Caroliny Herrery’s. I recently showed you what tricks to use while applying red lipstick, and how to give some spirit to your look by adding it. Yet for the outcome to be truly illuminating, you have to start from the scratch 😉 Before going to the drugstore to choose from thousands shades of red, prepare your… lips for that drop of color! Create your own homemade peeling, which will smooth your frost damaged lips, and make EVERY winter moaner feel better with its scent 😀
NORMAL SUGAR LEVEL
Even though on a daily basis I try to avoid sugar in my diet, I love to use it as my homemade peelings ingredient. It works perfectly on the rough skin that you have on your elbows and knees, and used with massage oil improves blood circulation, and prevents cellulite. Sugar crystals are too sharp to use the peeling on your face (coffee peeling) will definitely do a better job in this case), but when it comes to lips, there’s nothing like it! 😉 It perfectly firms and flakes off the dead cuticle. Honey combined with sugar will moisturize them and work as a regenerating compress. For winter (and not only) lips issues, olive oil is a perfect choice as well. I mentioned its pros HERE. Vaseline, which is not absorbed through the skin is also a good one, as it protects the skin against frost.
You wanna be a kiss master? Instead of putting sugar into your coffee, use it for lips peeling! You’ll flake off flake off the dead cuticle, and improve blood circulation. You wanna be a kiss master?
To make it more tasty, use a few drops of your favorite aroma. The vanilla one has aroma therapeutic properties (it can be prepared at home, and works like an aphrodisiac, so it’ll be a perfect choice for Valentines Day ;)), and the strawberry one – it’ll speed up the healing process, and improve blood circulation.
Forget routine! You can improve your peeling anytime, by adding new ingredients – lemon juice, or almond oil. Or maybe prepare more of it and surprise your bffs with a tasty gift? 😉
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
- 1 spoon of sugar (get brown – it’ll be helthier, if you decide to bake an apple pie)
- 1 spoon of honey
- half a spoon of olive oil
- half a spoon of Vaseline (HERE, for example)
- a few drops of your favorite essence (vanilla, for example)
- a box to store (can’t be metal)
Mix the ingredients smoothly, making sure that the sugar doesn’t melt too much. Put it into a jar, or a bottle, and store up to two weeks in the fridge. Warm it up for a while in room temperature before use. Apply on your lips for two minutes, then massage them with round moves, and wash off. Use daily, as many times as you need. It’ll prepare your lips for red lipstick, and vanilla kisses! 😀
